Planning Wedding Day Hair and Makeup
There are so many things to consider when planning your wedding day. Not planning adequately for wedding day hair and makeup is one the most common reasons weddings run late. It also makes people crazy and rush around and that just kills joy (as my 8 year old says).
Hire a Professional
There is something to be said for hiring professionals who make their living doing what they do. Here are a few tips when considering and planning wedding day hair and makeup.
- Give it a test run. It is important to ensure that your vision is your hair and make up artist’s vision as well. The best way to guarantee you get a look you will love on your wedding day is to see it executed….on you! Not only that, you can take it for a spin to see how it wears. Here in South Florida, we can get a lot of breezy days, especially beachside. You should take that into consideration and have an updo as a backup if windy weather is the forecast.
This bride planned for two hair style variations for her wedding day. The ceremony and reception was on the beach, so wind was a consideration. It ended up being pretty breezy, but her hair looked beautiful the entire day thanks to Vanessa at Makeup by Vanessa Crouse.
- Build time in to your timeline. This is crucial. You should allot about 1 & 1/2 hours per person. This may mean starting early, or having a hair and make up artist who has a team or assistants. If you (or your bridal party) is getting hair or make up done off site, be sure to double your travel time to allow for any traffic/travel hiccups.
- Take a moment to enjoy. There is nothing worse than rushing around at the last minute trying to get photos and get to the ceremony on time. All hair and make-up should be completed at least 2 hours prior to ceremony, 3 hours if there is a first look. This allows time for all of the pre-ceremony shots and for you to relax, smile and enjoy! It is your wedding day-it should be fun!
With everyone’s hair an makeup done in plenty of time before the ceremony, the girls had time to relax and have fun. It is possible to do on your wedding day.
